Meet Your Teacher
Alexandria Waycott is a Canadian Yoga Educator who has been teaching for over 14 years. Her work focuses primarily on supporting yoga teachers through 200-hour yoga teacher trainings, and continuing education for those looking to refine their skills. She holds an E-RYT 500 designation and is recognized by Yoga Alliance as a Continuing Education Provider.
Known for her clear, precise teaching style, Alexandria loves to share creative vinyasa practices paired with inspiring themes and playlists. Her academic background in English Literature and Professional Communications informs her interest in helping teachers develop effective verbal cues.
Alexandria’s approach to teaching is holistic and informed by a variety of lineages. Rather than subscribing to a single method, she values a non-dogmatic perspective where one recognizes there are many valid ways to experience yoga. As her career has evolved, Alexandria has become increasingly dedicated to supporting yoga teachers. She specializes in continuing education programs that focus on areas such as Ayurveda for yoga teachers, skillful class sequencing, yoga history and philosophy, and the art of effective verbal cueing.
She is also the host of Yoga Insider Podcast, an educational resource for yoga teachers around the world. When she’s not traveling to teach, Alexandria offers weekly classes for her community and leads 200-hour yoga teacher trainings in British Columbia, Canada.
Influences:
The foundation of my teaching philosophy is rooted in alignment-based hatha yoga, shaped by the universal principles of Anusara Yoga. My early development was guided by the mentorship of Daniel Clement and profoundly influenced by my formative years practicing with Christie Weightman.
The way I teach vinyasa yoga is informed by the Prana Flow methodology within the lineage of Shiva Rea, as taught by Clara Roberts-Oss. This approach lends itself to a creative approach to sequencing that feels fluid and rhythmic.
My work extends across both adaptive and high-performance environments. For years, I taught chair yoga for older adults, supported programs with BC Blind Sports, worked privately with clients experiencing traumatic brain injuries, and provided private instruction to professional athletes, including NHL hockey players. These experiences continue to inform a teaching approach that is responsive to individual needs.
Alongside these influences, I have spent time studying Iyengar Yoga, Katonah Yoga, Anusara Yoga, Ashtanga, yin, and restorative practices.
What students are saying…
I have been taking classes with Alex since 2020 - in fact, I’ve followed her across three different locations. She is a true 'teacher’s teacher.' She leads teacher trainings and her regular classes are often filled with other instructors, which speaks volumes about her quality. Alex has a unique gift for invoking the true essence of yoga, all while keeping the mood light, fun, and never overly serious. Her instructions are clear, her cues are on point, and I love her music choices - the rhythm of the class always feels alive. Her sequencing is the perfect mix of adventurous creativity and that 'staple feel-good' flow, delivered with a soothing voice. Beyond the practice itself, the vibe is just really good. She has built such a wonderful community that it truly feels like practicing together with friends. I feel lucky to have her guide my practice and would recommend her classes to anyone, regardless of age or experience level.

What to expect in my yoga class…
You can expect a skillful, well-planned sequence, plenty of options to suit your mood and abilities, and gentle encouragement to do the best you can with whatever you have to work with each day. Classes are generally lighthearted, sometimes there’s a bit of banter or sarcasm that comes through (haha!) and a good music playlist!
Things you might not know about me…
I was born in the USA, but grew up in Canada! I’ve lived in 5 different countries, and love to travel. I love concerts and music festivals, a good psychological thriller, scary movies, and true crime podcasts!

6/2 Manifestor (if you’re into Human Design)
I drink my coffee black most of the time, and prefer not to speak to anyone until I’ve been properly caffeinated. I’m a sucker for a nice leather jacket. I feel the most comfortable in my own company, but also enjoy deep one-on-one conversations.
My partner is a professional musician and producer, and we’re obsessed with our senior golden retriever, Waylon.
My Core Values
Cultivating Community
I love bringing people together to share space and feel supported! I do this by offering weekly yoga classes here in the Fraser Valley, as well as through providing yoga teacher training for small groups.
Authenticity
I am committed to staying true to the roots of yoga by honoring them to the very best of my ability. Yoga has been commodified in so many ways, and I’m here for the people who are in it for the long haul - there is no “quick fix” on this path.
Leading Through Knowledge
Education and yoga are lifelong endeavors. I’m committed to education and professional development, and my goal is to continue supporting other teachers through continuing education.
